Glens Falls Symphony’s 2024 Springtime Gala in Honor of The Gilet Family
The Glens Falls Symphony will host its Springtime Gala at the Lake George Club in Diamond Point on Sunday, June 2, 2024 beginning at 4:30 p.m. This year’s Gala will honor the Gilet Family in recognition of their many years of support of the Glens Falls Symphony along with recognition for thirteen years of hard-working service to the Symphony’s Board of Directors as Chair of the Development Committee by the family patriarch, the late Albert (Al) J. Gilet, Jr. The symphony is thrilled to honor the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of Al &Mary Jane Gilet and their family members Sue & Matt Dougherty, Charlotte Gilet, Robert & Lucy McBride, and Julia & Whit Ramonat. The Gala is dedicated to thanking them for their work over several decades to build the Glens Falls Symphony into the accomplished artistic organization we enjoy today.
Glens Falls Symphony Music Director Charles Peltz shares that, “Certain people bring unique color to a community. From Al’s Massachusetts accent to Mary Jane’s anecdotes about barbecues with friends and neighbors Green Bay Packers Quarterback Bart Starr and his wife Cherry in Green Bay, one could always count on the Gilets to impart a fun story with their own unique whimsy. Underneath that color is a family of depth and substance – together, they live their commitment to community. Al was, and Mary Jane still is, a great friend of music. They never missed a Glens Falls Symphony Concert since 1983! It is an honor to be part of this celebration of the Gilet Family.”
This year’s Gala will feature a performance by Glens Falls Symphony Oboist/ English Horn Holly Patterson accompanied by pianist Bryan Kirk. During the cocktail hour, guests will enjoy light piano music performed by John Benware. The Gala will feature four auction packages available: 1) An evening at Tanglewood with Maestro Charles Peltz & Kirstin Peltz with a backstage tour to meet Boston Symphony musicians, 2) a Lake George Chris-Craft boating experience with dinner for four people, 3) dance lessons and experience with Natalia O’Connor and Florin Vlad od Saratoga’s DanceFire studios, and 4) “Community Gifts from the Heart” which will include man ways to give that directly impact Symphony’s artistic and educational programs.

About Glens Falls Symphony
The Glens Falls Symphony began as a community amateur orchestra in 1977 at the then-named Adirondack Community College. Celebrating 40 years this season, the symphony successfully moves into its fourth decade of music-making as a professional orchestra since its incorporation in 1983. Since Maestro Charles Peltz arrived in 2000, the fully professional Glens Falls Symphony has performed a dynamic repertoire, regularly including musical premieres and world-renowned guest artists while expanding musical offerings to include family concerts, summer pops programs, and more. Cited as “one of the great orchestras of our country” by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner, the orchestra comprises professional musicians who come from all over the Northeast to perform.
