FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

September 5, 2024

Glens Falls Symphony 41st Season starts Sunday, October 6, 2024, featuring hometown superstar Tony DeSare and his band, who will perform their “Sinatra and Beyond” show with the orchestra, LIVE on stage at the Glens Falls High School auditorium, as the symphony kicks off their highly anticipated year of “Movement and Memory!”

The Hudson Falls, New York native has been compared to Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr., and Michael Bublé. Tony has been entertaining audiences around the world for the past 30 years. With his first public performance at 17 years of age on the piano at The Queensbury Hotel, right here in Glens Falls, NY! From jazz clubs to Carnegie Hall to Las Vegas and headlining major symphony orchestras, DeSare has brought his fresh take on old-school class around the globe. Tony currently has four top-ten Billboard jazz albums under his belt. His sound is romantic, swinging, and sensual, but what sets him apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and contemporary, yet pays homage to the Great American Songbook.

DeSare performs with infectious joy, wry playfulness, and robust musicality. He has been named a Rising Star Male Vocalist in Downbeat magazine. DeSare has brought his fresh take on old school classes around the globe. DeSare has four top ten Billboard jazz albums under his belt and has been featured on the CBS Early Show, NPR, A Prairie Home Companion, and the Today Show and his music has been posted by social media celebrity juggernaut, George Takei. DeSare has also collaborated with YouTube icons Postmodern Jukebox.
DeSare’s Lush Life recording debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Chart and he released Song Diaries Vol. 2 in early 2022, now streaming on all platforms. DeSare’s latest single “Paris Always Will Have You” was released in early 2024 and is available on all streaming platforms.

Notwithstanding his critically acclaimed turns as a singer/pianist, DeSare is also an accomplished award-winning composer. He not only won first place in the USA Songwriting Contest, but has written the theme song for the motion picture, My Date with Drew, several broadcast commercials and has composed the full soundtracks for the Hallmark Channel’s Love Always, Santa, Lifetime’s Nanny Nightmare and Lifetime’s new A Welcome Home Christmas. His sound is romantic, swinging and sensual, but what sets DeSare apart is his ability to write original material that sounds fresh and contemporary, yet pays homage to the Great American Songbook. His compositions include a wide-range of romantic, funny, and soulful sounds that can be found on his top-selling recordings.

DeSare’s forthcoming appearances include the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony, Artis-Naples/Naples Philharmonic, Grand Teton Music Festival, and The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall.

This performance will feature songs such as “Come Fly with Me”, “I Get A Kick Out of You”, and “I’ve Got the World on a String” as well as a few originals with a repertoire that will surprise you throughout the entire performance. If you love Sinatra and you love the art form, you’ll love the show!

About Glens Falls Symphony

The Glens Falls Symphony began as a community amateur orchestra in 1977 at the then-named Adirondack Community College. The symphony successfully moves into its fourth decade of music-making as a professional orchestra since its incorporation in 1983. Since Maestro Charles Peltz arrived in 2000, the fully professional Glens Falls Symphony has performed a dynamic repertoire, regularly including musical premieres and world-renowned guest artists while expanding musical offerings to include family concerts, summer pops programs, and more. Cited as “one of the great orchestras of our country” by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner, the orchestra comprises professional musicians from all over the Northeast to perform.
